Speakers/subs...where the "well" is behind the seats???
Had a terrible time trying to search this out as a topic...so forgive me if I'm asking something asked before...
I hear of folks installing subs behind the seats...but is there functional "elbow room" beneath the "well" (where the ragtop resides when the top is down) to install subs/speakers? Just curious. Even with the top down, I'd have to think I'd achieve a clearer sound with them installed there rather than behind the depth of a leather seat. Is this worth considering? And again, is there room to physically mount the speakers there? Do you end up in the trunk on the underside? Is the spare tire in the way? [ooooh, just made me imagine my stook with a flat tire having to go down the road using that sorry-a$$ donut "convenience spare" - shiver - ] Thanks in advance for your comments...

Bass frequencies are non-directional to the human ear, so it doesn't really matter much where you install a subwoofer. I personally don't like third order boxes in the trunk (too muddled IMO, and rattles everything in the car), but so long as the bass drivers are in the same passenger compartment with you things should sound just fine.
fwiw: I had a del Slo that had a custom built bass reflex fiberglass box behind the seats with two 10" woofers in it. They fired right at the backs of the seats, and the bass was incredibly tight and smooth. Put Metallica's "Fuel" in the CD, turn the volume up, and OH - MY - GAWD! - just like working at the pits at the NHRA Nationals. <sniff> I miss that car!
