Speakers: Add rears, change doors, leave stock tweeters?
#11
I am running front components, and rear two-way speakers with an amp. I did get an aftermarket HU, but that's because I wanted to play MP3s. I went for the 5 channel amp as a bit of insurance. If I decide to get a sub, I just plug and play. However, without a sub it sounds really good. The best advice I can offer is this:
Get decent rear speakers (they don't have to be great) get very nice front speakers, they don't have to be ridiculas, but compnents are a good idea. Get an amp, either a 5 channel or a 4 channel that can be bridged to support a sub if you decide to go that route. Leave the stock HU. Then LISTEN to it. If it meets your needs, then you are DONE! If it's pretty good, but could be better then you can hold off and get a sub or a new HU at a later date.

Ruexp67, I think that's exactly what I'm going to do.
Like you said, I can always add a new HU or sub later if I'm still not happy.
Great advice. Thanks to everyone.
