speaker wire...
alright i am installing a wideband and have been splicing and soldering my display, control unit, test switch, and led. i needed to add a little extra length for the grounds and the 12v power and i didn't want to have to drive to an auto store or walmart to get a little spool of wire.
i do have a lot of excess stereo speaker wire left over from adding stereo components. i figured wire is wire, the speakers i figure are getting more juice than the wideband would require, so i said what the hell and used it. i'm thinking nobody does this 'cause of the substantial wire cost between the two but i'm not an electronics expert.
so, should i finalize the install and hook up the power to the wideband and run it or should i stop and get the traditionally accepted wire?

My concern would be the insulation around the wire itself. If you put the speaker wire on the inside of the car, I wouldn't worry. If the speaker wire is on the outside (engine compartment/underside of car) I'd be concerned about it's resilience to weather/wear & tear.
