Default S2000 Dashboard interface question

I've heard that if you want your aftermarket stereo to work with the dash controls on your S2000, you're gonna need the special dashboard interface thingy that costs around $90-100 bucks. I was browsing on ebay for a new deck, however, and came across this one that says "OEM Steering Remote Ready." Here is the link to the CD Player, I believe the model is an Alpine CDA-9853

CD Player

Thank you, any help woudl be greatly appreciated

All 2005 model alpines have hardwire ports/wires for OEM steering wheel controls. I am not sure how well they work though.

BTW, if you go alpine I'd suggest the 9851, that glidetouch is a pain in the ass.

I think as long as it comes with in IR remote, Modifry can program his DCI to work. II believe Modifry DCI is compatible with that unit. You might want to check to see if it is compatible with the wired version (I think the Alpine wired is out now). The IR acts like a remote, sending an IR signal to the HU. The wired one has a jack adapter that pugs into the back.

Check out the Marketplace.

Is it really that bad? I have a 9835 and was contemplating changing to a 9855. My only grip with the 9835 is that it takes forever to scroll through all the different artists. With the 9855 i can sweep through half of my list in a few glides.

If the alpine has a remote, then modify's dci will work (availible on s2k marketplace). Otherwise, the alpine one has some direct wired plug in to the honda harness to enable the dash control... Modifry's is better though...it actually ADDS fuctions to the dash controls (ff or rewind thru cd's, speed controled volume, forward and backwards thru MP3 folders and files, etc)

I don't think glidepass is that big of a pain, but I ended up with the 9847 because I liked the feature set better than the 9851. Any IR-ready reciever will work (it doesn't have to come with a remote, just be remote ready) with a Modifry DCI, and now there are wired DCIs for Alpines etc too.

I love Modifry's DCI - good added functionality.

The Modifry DCI is great; especially the speed controlled volume. The IR interface to my Eclipse HU is a little laggy but otherwise works perfectly.

That's pretty involved. There is a thread on removing the whole module somewhere in the Electronics forum, but the gist is that you have to drop the steering column to get it out.

Why do you want to remove the volume switch?
