I've got two of the the 600Tis, and quite frankly you'd be hard pressed to find one right now. Car Domain might have a few left, but i know that PG doesn't have but a few in thier warehouse.

With the Utopia's I'd run extra wattage to them, and adjust the gains (I have my gains set at 85%). I must admit that one of my 600Ti's was bad out of the box. I was able to exchange it with no hassles, but no sub for the first week of my stereo.

The Xenon line looks great. But you need something between the x100 and the x200.

Thanks for the heads up but the 200.4 has a little more power than I'm looking for and I am looking for just a 2 channel amp for my components and a separate mono amp for a sub so I can have some flexibility with changing components in the future. You might want to post that in the "deals of the week" thread so others can take advantage of that price.

Thanks williegee for your input. I was leaning towards the more powerful Ti600 as well, the only thing pushing me towards the Ti400 was that small size of the amp but I guess I can find room for the bigger 600. They apparently still have both models in stock at Sounddomain for deeply discounted prices and they are an authorized seller which is even better.

The only other amp I was seriously considering was the TRU Technology T100.2 with the upgraded Burr Brown IC, but that costs around $550 and only puts out 100wrms x 2 (although I've read that it is underated). I figured I probably wouldn't be able to notice the difference in sound quality between it and the cheaper PG so I might as well save a couple hundred bucks and get the PG Ti.

The Burr Brown is a STRONG selling point, but I've read here and elsewhere that AMPs are AMPS with similar wattage. Speaker choice and placement have the most impact on SQ, followed by a pre-amp, DA converter and cables. What you are buying is stability, manufacturer warranty, and craftsmanship. The 600 Ti's are also underrated, I had 641 and 665 true ratings on my two PG 600Ti's.

I thought I remember reading somewhere that with Phoenix Gold amps you were paying more for the looks and cosmetic features (bling factor) of the amps than other amps like helix, tru, or audison for which you pay more for the quality components and craftmanship. Not that Phoenix Gold amps are bad in terms of quality or craftmanship, just that more of their high price is due to things like the light up logos and stuff like that than things like Burr Brown ICs. Please correct me if I'm mistaken.

I would go with the Ti600.2

Stay away from Tru for the s2000. They are incredible amps, but are total waste of cash in an s2000.

Go with the 600.

Spend the extra money on RCAs that Jim and I have....

www.knukonceptz.com (the most expensive ones....they are black)

let's have a resurrection!

i was looking at the x100.2 for powering a set alpine spx-177r components.

the spx's are 75w rms, so the x100.2 should be ideal correct?

i think i'm starting to get this audio thing....maybe...

also, i will be using a mono amp to power a sub, so i dont need a 4 channel amp.

at RMS Power @ 4 Ohms: 100W x 2 @ 14.4V, the x100.2 should work well with the alpines, giving them all the power they need....yeah?
