rear harness

The part on the left is from the harness - right speaker panel (premium wire lead 12" is attached to speaker terminals and insulated).
Every panel set sold has this feature. The terminal pins (soldered on both plugs) are to be inserted into the male (from harness) plug when it is in the cavity. You can't fish the wire down the console with the plug attached.
No wire ties, soldering, crimping or taping is required. Installation is quicker and easier than ever. If a speaker is faulty it can easily be unplugged and replaced OR if a better model comes out in the future you're able to upgrade in minutes.

What you are looking at is the rear speaker connection - part of the rear speaker kit. The Radio harness is just that, it taps the rear lines of the unused speaker leads (4 wires) and you attach your speaker wires to 4 loose wires (green/purple) and run them back.
In a "kit" the wire bundles are soldered and double insulated to the harness with pin terminals. The value of the OEM kits is that everything is done for you so a complete installation can take 40-50 minutes by a novice.
