Radio/Speaker Upgrade

Radio/Speaker Upgrade
I'd really like to upgrade my S2000 stereo, since the OEM stereo is a total piece of junk in my opinion. It has to be cranked when the top is down to hear anything, and the speakers buzz with any sort of loud signal.
To be clear, I'm not looking for Subs or anything complex... I'd just like to throw in some Boston Acoustics and replace the Head Unit if I can still maintain the Dashboard Controls. I'd prefer a Blue Tooth compatible head unit, but an iPhone cable connector would work too. I have next to no experience with Car Stereos, so I'm just looking to find out what my options are here.

You won't be able to retain the dash controls with any aftermarket HU unless you get the Modifry DCI adapter. That being said, there is plenty of information in this subforum that has peoples setups. My sig has mine . Really depends on your budget, your intentions and whether or not you are comfortable doing the install yourself.

I settled for the Alpine CDE-133BT head unit and Alpine Type S 610C component speakers. As Reckon mentioned, you'll need the Modifry hardware to keep the dash controls.

You do have another option. Qube can modify the stock controls to work with/as an aftermarket remote

There are other options beyond the wired versions. Check out http://www.pac-audio.com/productSear...&CategoryId=26
Looks like they have a few options. I have a generation that is similar to the SWI-X that I got working in 2000 that learns the infrared signal and repeats it.
Cheers
