the radio
Is the radio itself any good? Is it worth upgrading the speakers etc.? I have to give up and turn mine off after about five minutes as it gives me a headache. I really miss having music!

Can you explain why it's giving you a headache? Is it hissing, crackling or making some unusual noises? I think the radio is just fine (and the CD player, too). Some guys are simply putting in new drop-in speakers to improve the sound quality a bit a higher volumes for top down listening. Some are going another step and putting in an amp. Are you in a poor reception area? Perhaps you should check your antennae connections. The car has an amplified antennae system which needs power and grounding. It's possible you just have a lemon stereo in which case take it back to the dealer and have it looked at.

Not a reception problem...a tone problem. Sounds like the radio is down in a hole (which it is) but the treble simply makes things shrill and painful to listen to, and the bass makes the doors vibrate. No amount of adjusting either makes music that's pleasant. The CD player seems to make a better sound, but as with the radio, instrumentals, and vocals are fine. Only contemporary rock etc. sounds like hell with no mid-ranges, only shrill to more shrill, and booming bass to incredible booming bass. Maybe it's as you say, a lemon.
