I have a V1 with concealed display mounted just like wrecked. I bought one after getting a ticket back in 09 and i can tell you it's paid for itself already. the cool thing about the V1 is that the arrows will show you which direction the radar source is coming from.

This is the cheap one I want to get. It has pretty good reviews.

That is the exact one I have from best buy, its AWESOME! nothing bad to say about it. Definitely has payed for itself at least 6 times. I don't think its worth buying an expensive one then having to worry about it being stolen etc etc...
I put mine in the lower center of the windshield and have it semi tucked. Worth every penny!
Do you have the wire going thru the middle of the car?

Yea it is, doesnt bother me though because I have it tied up so its not a mess. Dude if you have a tight budget get the escort I'm living proof that it works, its not one of the annoying ones either that goes off every 2 seconds for no reason.

yea its probably gonna be my next purchase, thanks for the advice.

Every car and installation location is different but a competent installer will be able to route the cable cleanly without damaging any OEM panels. If you have an idea of where you want the unit, I can give you specifics on how to hide the wire(s).

Not a direct wire because I still have to plug the unit into the 12V when I want to use it, but no wires in the way. I think it looks very neat.
Wow, you went the long way! Why not hardwire it?

^ Haha, I know. Electricity is a mystery to me, so I did what I knew how.

Once I get one I would probably want it next to the mirror sort of like this

But if you know any other good mounting spots tell me, I dont want it to be on the window and blocking some of my view.

The trim pieces are really easy to remove to route the wire. I ended up splicing mine into switched power for the radio as it was easier for me to reach than anything near the fuse box. The ground is around one of the radio mount screws. Works perfect. I used a DIY from the "other" s2k site to show me what to do with the trim pieces.

Valentine V1 by far, best range. Only downside is that it doesnt have a gps marker on it...so automatic doors can get annoying. But its not too bad

not tryin to sound like a douche, but what is the benefit of knowing which direction the radar is coming from?? no matter where its coming from your still subject to possibly getting a ticket, so wouldnt you slow down no matter which direction it came from?

I have a V1 and have had a cop trail me for 2 miles. With out it I wouldn't have seen him. He was a good 1/8 mile to 1/4 mile behind me. He was trying to be sneaky...... I had the last laugh! I have also been hit from the side and front at the same time. It is quite convenient having this feature. If you don't think it is worth the money then there is no reason to pay for this feature.

Also I have had it pick up cops almost 1/2 a mile ahead of me. With out being able to see them I slowed down while everybody else kept there speeding up. Just because it goes off doesn't mean people are going to slow down. Radar detectors will put off false alarms. I drove by a prison yesterday and it had three different signals coming from it.... Another feature V1 has...
