Quick Amp Question
I'm negotiating buying a used amp from someone.
I run an Alpine head unit, and I think I'm going to run 6.5" MB Quart PVI 216 speakers and a self-powered sub (built-in amp).
The amp this guy is selling would ONLY be used to power the 2 6.5" MBQ component speakers in my doors. The amp is a PPI A404 (art series).
I asked, being a NOOB, "do I need anything other than an amp kit to make this amp work in my system?" Because I honestly don't understand this stuff.
The seller says: "The amp does not have any on board crossovers, but if you aren't running much of a sub, you may not need one. Some head units have crossovers built in too...
Basically, some head units and amps have a high pass crossover built in. This filters out certain bass range's depending on how their set. Being that you don't have much of a sub, you probably would not want to run a high pass crossover anyway."
Here is my question:
Is this a problem?
Thanks, guys!!!!!

If you purchase the MB Quarts as a component set, you won't have a problem (passive crossovers are included with the set).
Wire the amp to the xovers to the speakers. No worries.
And I really recommend staying away from the self-powered subwoofers. For a bit more $$$, you'll exponentially increase the SQ from your sub.

You guys should look into Sundown Audio amps. Excellent amps, and hard to beat the price.
Check out this thread for my truck install with Sundown Audio amps, a pair of Stereo Integrity Mag v4's, and SEAS Prestige separates:

I like the Sundown amps so much that I've been tempted to swap out the Audison LRx 4.300 and JL 500/1v2 in the S for Sundown amps (SAX 100.4 and SAZ 1000D)
