question regarding Modifry's garage door opener mod
has anyone else done this besides Modifry? i just need someone to clarify a few things for me. the remote control has a push button plus a 12 volt battery. i was reading Modifry's instruction but somewhat lost. i've PM him but hasn't got an answer yet. hope he's not on vacation 'cuz i like to finish this mod quickly.
anyways, if someone else can clarify this for me:
1. i need to solder the switch (assuming it's the contact points of the push button) with 2 18 gauge wires and connect these wires to the appropriate high beam wires.
2. i can ditch the battery since the high beam has power already (i'm assuming on this one).
3. will leaving the high beam on for a long period of time have any effect on the remote control -- like driving at night with high beam on.
thx

Not quite right. You solder a short jumper wire on the pushbutton contacts so that it's always closed. You ditch the battery. You then run the + and - leads for the battery to the corresponding leads on the high beam. When the high beam comes on, the opener gets power.
If you drive with the high beams on, the opener will be continuously powered. Shouldn't hurt the opener. Just watch for nearby garage doors going up and down.
