Default question about speakers

okay, so maybe I am just a little bit confused. On my 03 s2000, I have read that there are not any rear speakers in the car. This is right...... right??? Anyway, what size do I need to get for the rear, and what else would you suggest that I get for additional sound quality. If I was to do a front speaker replacement what size should I get for that? Give me your advice on what speakers sound the best?

This topic has been beaten to death.
Forget the rears for now.

Get a new Head Unit first. This is a must...everything else is a waste until you do this.

Upgrade the fronts with some good component speakers.
Amplify them. If you are still unhappy, then, and only then, get rears. Check out Chadwicks thread and Willie Gee's thread on building a system. Good luck.

umm...

i'm going to disagree w/ Dave. while often a new HU is a great place to start, depending on what you want, it may not be the best choice. some rear speakers may be all you need.

for sure before doing anything else -- read the S2000 Electronics FAQ.

thanks-- i just came back from circuit city and they were telling me that maybe get some new front speakers and possibly one good sub for the trunk, with an amp. They said that a new cd player would help the sound quality and would have more options, but I wouldn't HAVE to have it.

Well its true, that rears might be all you need but....

I have an 03, as do you. When I decided to upgrade the system, the MAIN reason for it was simply because I could not hear it at highway speeds. With rears, I dont think that will help out much.

So before you spend 200 bucks on rears, I would try something else. I heard rear speakers in an s2k, and while they do improve the fill, It wasnt a 1/4 of what my 2 speakers do. just my opinion. Its all about why you are looking to upgade.

What are your goals with your stereo??? We need to know that first...

When you do the rears you have to do them right. I have rears in my car and they make a hugh difference in the sound.

very much so... your goals and budget will have a great deal to say in which path is best to choose.

like Dave, i've heard rear speakers -- they are nice, but my 2 components and 1 sub completely blow them away... of course, his is a $100-$200 investment, and mine is closer to $1500-$2000.

and there are options and possibilities for everything between $100 and $2000+
