When I put the new fuse in, the radio started working again without having to punch in a code. So all-in-all, my issue was solved without too much drama.

...And we also now know that it's not a good idea to stick your key into the accessory socket, unless you have spare fuses on hand. We can also infer that the little rubber handle on the key is good for something.
