and you're welcome my sad flying friend...
be a little cautious w/ your friend though when setting gains. while it does sound like he has some experience, the boom boom guys sometimes get overly ambitious on gains w/ the hopes of milking 1 more dB...
so you can know what you're listening for... here's some good examples of clipping distortion, what it sounds like (compared to pure signals), and some ways to recognize it.
