Default Q:Rear speaker installation?

I am just planning to add a pair of rear speakers to my 04 S2000.
Does anyone know if 04 s2000 is pre-wired for the rear speakers or
Should I run the wires from the stock head unit? Please help!

There's apparently a pig-tail of the 4 speaker wires and a connector behind one of the panels beside the radio on the '04's (so they can easily wire the new optional headrest speakers) all you need to do is either purchase the connector (not sure if it's available yet but should be) or clip it and use the wires from there.

Sorry I have no idea at this point which wire is which, you will have to take the radio out to figure out that. Assuming the radio's plug is the same as before I've identified which wires in the plug go to which speaker in the back but my web-server is down for the moment, PM me if you need the pic

Since the headrest speakers are a pair of R & L tweeter's only is it possible that the wires are already crossed over for highs only? If so then a mid in the rear would not work very well.

Either way, the answer to your question is no, they are not pre-wired. You will have to run wires from the HU to wherever you mount the speakers.

I doubt they would go to the trouble of capping those outputs at the radio or in the pig-tail, more likely is a cap at the speakers. Are you sure they are just tweeters? I was under the impression they were small full-range speakers.

Good point. I THOUGHT they were tweets only. I could be wrong.

Anymore conclusions on the 04 HU connections for rear speakers? I fitted rears to my 02, but it was so long ago I can't remember the details.

If it's just a matter of connecting 2 way speakers and cables to the HU, I will dig out the Dremel and DIY again.

Yeah, I would like to know if anyone figured out the pinout for the 4-pin rear speaker connection.

Honda wants over 5 bills for the rear headrest speakers and more to install them.
