Possesed Modifry's DCI
I've have Modifry's DCI, wired remote control interface for pioneer, in my '02 for about 4 or 5 months. It's a great mod and I love it, when it works! Now about 90-95% of the time it operates normally, but sometimes when I start my car, all the botton functions are all mixed up. Mute button changes track, vol up turns to vol down, mode button now mutes, ect. These quirks will eventually go away from 5 min~a few days, but I don't know why it's happening.
I'm an engineer so I'm not really affraid to swap out a part on the PCB if needed, or to install a switch to some point on the DCI board to reset it. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a way to fix it/work around it? Also, I'm almost positive that the first occurance of this was after I had wired the speedo monitor to the DCI so it could turn the vol up or down based on my speed.
Any comments or ideas are appreciated.

Have you sent modifry an e-mail yet? I have had a DCI since it was a beta, no problems with mine. Modifry is great and will anwser your questions if he can. but if it is a problem with the product, he needs to know. It could just be a broken trace on the PCB.

admittedly, I have not. It hasn't been the biggest problem in the world, and is very easy to just ignore when it's not having problems. I'll shoot him an email and see what he says.

Has the car been sitting in high heat or cold when you first notice the problems? Like a number of vehicles, our cars use resistor networks to determine what button is being pressed... extreme cold/heat could change those values enough to throw the DCI off until they settle back into their programmed range as the car heats up/cools down.

Check the miniplug cable on the DCI wiring harness. Mine was loose and I experienced some "strange" things through the dash controls. To fix, solder the wire to the wiring harness pin... I removed the metal connector from the wiring harness, soldered, then reinserted the connector into the proper opening on harness.
