Default Pioneer Speakers TS-D1720C

I want to get a set of Pioneer Speakers TS-D1720C but I wanted to see if anyone has these that can provide some feed back as far as fitment and highway top down quality. Maybe if anyone has had some positive/negative w/ theses speakers that can help me out. Thanks!

Top down will be much more a reflection of the head unit / power than the speakers themselves. If you want to upgrade to hear with the top down, change the radio first, speakers second.

I have the step up 720PRS set, not the D1720C. I needed spacers--not plug and play, and I really like the sound for the money. (The 720PRS set runs ~$250-ish street price.) A guy from a local audio shop said he thought the D1720C's fit without modifications, but he didn't know for sure.

If you're just looking for a new radio plus speakers upgrade, have the radio, and your end state will have no amps, sub, or wiring run, they're probably a decent option. Boston has a set that people love for that application too; there are quite a few sets that have had good reviews on the board.

But I haven't heard anything (good or bad) about the 1720Cs in this car.

I have an upgraded HU. I'm just concerned about fitment (Voice Coil too big) and audio quality with an amp running them. I guess it'll just be trial and error.

I had these installed yesterday. There is a spike in the upper midrange that is ear piercing to me. Other than that I am impressed with these speakers. My head unit doesn't have a robust EQ section so I can't dial it out.

I have these speakers, but havent install them yet. How did you mount the tweeter?

My installer did it for me. They will fit in the factory locations.

Do you have any pics of it? The thing about those tweeters are the grill. Did he fab up a bracket of some sorts?

check the crossover, you can attenuate the tweeter. wire the tweeter positive to the "level control -3db +" terminal

I already have my tweeters set with the -3db. The problem area is right near the xover point I am guessing the 2Khz area or upper vocal range.

As for the tweeter mounts I pulled my door panel yesterday to tighten down some stuff so I wish I saw your request earlier or I would have taken some pictures for you of the backside. There is nothing to see from the front.
