Default Pioneer 7" In dash screen Question.

Hey there,

Just picked up an in dash DVD/screen combo made by Pioneer. Problem is, the video output is not operable while driving due to a park brake cord installed by the dealer. Unfortunately, I purchased the in-dash due to space constraints in my truck, but now, while driving, even my passengers cannot watch the screen! Is there anyway to disable this feature? I.E have the screen have a DVD video display WHILE driving?

Hope someone can help.
Cheers
Asif

I'm sure there is a way to bypass it. Do you have the installation manual?

you should probably reconnect that ground wire to ground. you dont have to put it to the parking brake but the wire does serve a purpose.

Actually you are supposed to wire it to a switch brotha, $2 job from radio shack is enough.

Hmmm...suppose I could go the switch route....although there is another ground wire that goes from the head unit to the engine bay firewall.

Time to go play in the garage again.

You probably are going to need that to power the head unit.

I think his would clear the hump, but I think you would hit it when you shift unless your really really careful.

Buy a toggle switch---the wire from the Pioneer unit goes to the toggle switch. Then from the toggle switch ground the wire. Then when you are in motion just flick the switch and it will think the brake is up! (you don't have to touch the brake wire). I had this done on my Eclipse Spyder. I mounted the switch under the dash.
