Panasonic IR DCI
I was looking at the marketplace and thinking of buying the Panasonic IR DCI. There is a buy option for the S2000 Harness Adapter. Would I still need to buy this if I am going with an IR setup? Also is the setup fairly fool proof? Or is it something I am going to need to take in to get done? My knowledge of wiring Hu's on a scale of 1-10 is probably a 7 or 8, so Im not completely blind going into this. Thanks for any help!

have you already installed the headunit, and are now adding the
DCI, or is this a totally new install? in other words, do you need
a harness adaptor anyway? if so, yes, get the Modifry harness adaptor.
It doesn't cost significantly more than a generic one, and it has the
dash and mute wires that are generally missing from the generic
ones.
On the other hand, if you've already installed the headunit with another
harness adaptor, it should be possible to modify that harness to move
pins/wires into the correct positions.

The Hu is already installed, but I dont feel like modifying the generic wiring harness, So I assume I would replace it with this "Adapter Harness" that I can buy with the DCI, am I correct?

you've presumably already got one adapter harness installed, so
you'd need to replace that one with the new one, which would mean
cutting all the splices from the panasonic harness to the adapter
harness, and the recrimping/soldering the new adapter in place.
When I was in your shoes, I decided it was easier to move a couple of
unused pins/wires in the old adapter harness rather than redo all
the splices. Replacing the adapter harness is somewhat more work,
but is in many ways easier/requires less care.
