I don't like to self-promote, but I'll chime in since I happen to be looking for a headunit tonight.
Despite what any HID bulb seller might tell you, OEM is going to be 100% the brightest bulb. Any increase in color will diminish the amount of lumens that are output. I only sell 6000K because it provides a nice compromise of color and output. There is little noticeable difference in brightness, but the color is pretty.
If it wasn't clear, an example: 10000K HID bulbs are going to be super purple, but very dim.

I bought the 6k ones from JS2k two years ago. I like both OEM and the 6k output.
Back in my ...younger days I thought 10k and 12k was hot stuff. Not so much now. My next set of bulbs will probably be OEM.

Define better. Depends on what you're looking to do and where you're willing to compromise. As for brightness, consider that we evolved to see by the light of the sun and its effective color temp is 5780K.

I went with OSRAM CBI.
Perfect color and they are just as bright as the OEM ones. I have heard very good stuff about JS2K (They are cheaper)
CBIs usually are around $200 for the pair.

CBI are very bright and very expensive. Color is around 5000-6000K.
Next brightest that I have personally seen are the Philips 85122+ ($100). I use these on my Acura TL with ZKWR lenses and they are the brightest bulbs a I've ever used! Color is 4300K so they are a bit more yellow than I'd prefer.
I have not seen the HID bulbs from JS2K, so I cannot comment on them specifically. I do have mixed reviews on the LED packages, but that is for another thread. ☺
