you can still get a DCI (dash control interface) from Modifry...it will let you retain your factory dash radio controls...look into it...I never went with anything aftermarket but do have other products from Modifry and they are the best...great quality, awesome instructions, and he's always there for help/support

I decided against getting an iPod interface for the OEM radio since they're pricey and the cost of one covers quite a bit of the cost of new head unit. Granted, the margin increases when you add the Modifry DCI and so on but I've been happy with an aftermarket head unit and the DCI.

Plenty of information on how to install an aftermarket HU. Just look up above in the stickies area.
I replaced the stock unit in my S2k with an Alpine iDA x303. It was very easy to do. I lost the dash controls, but its very easy to reach down to the HU to do what I need. I plan on doing the Modifry DCI adapter later on when I finish some other projects.
