No way this fries the sub, right?
I'm going to be running a 10" Rockford P2 rated at 200 watts RMS and 400 watts peak. Sub 1
My amp is rated at 284 watts bridged RMS. Amp
Just making sure this should be a viable option. Obviously I listen to the stereo at pretty high levels with the top down on the highway... don't want to cook the sub.
My other option would be a Pioneer sub that I've heard some good things about. Sub 2
Feedback?

i'd say you should be ok. just be careful when setting the gains... you'll want to insure that the sub won't heavily distort when you are at your 'normal highway listening volume', so be sure to set gains at that level.

Why not go with a different brand? I have the Clarion SW10X and love it. Sounds good. Delivers nice tight bass response. I dont think the xmax is as high, but seeing as you are only running 284WRMS to it, you probably are not looking to drop heavy booming bass anyways.
I love the Clarions, and the are all rated for a minimum of 300WRMS.
I agree with Phil. I think you will be OK, but that is close to a 50% overpower. I would no crank it up at first. I would start it low, then slowly dial the gain up, listening for distortion.
