Default New Speakers Installed

Had new Polk EX2560 6.5 Component System installed this weekend, in the S2000.

Sounds Great...even with the factory stereo...

Still waiting on the mod to keep the factory stereo controls with a new Alpine system....tick tick tick tick tick...

This is currently the same setup that I have, except that I mounted the Polk tweeters higher up on the door (right below the window sill). I too noticed a significant improvement from my prior setup (Polk drop ins; 602s). Additionally, I'm also waiting for a hardwire solution as to keeping the remote dash controls with an Alpine unit (my last two headunits on my other car were Alpines). Please keep us posted on this when you get it done.

There can never and will never be a hardwired dash control for Alpine headunits that do not possess the remote "jack" on the rear... many of European Alpines have the jack but as far as US headunits, the only confirmed ones are: IVA-C800, CVA-1005 (I have those two), and the new F1 series 7990...

Without the remote jack in the rear, the ONLY way for the dash controls to get to the headunit is through the IR (PAC IR unit)... period.

Now this may be an off the wall question...

But what would be the down fall of getting a Euro Alpine head unit (one with the plug) and installing in the USA? Other than the short coming of the step differences in the AM band?

Not having even held a European headunit in my hand... I could not say what the differences would be. Most of us don't even use AM...

I haven't used AM in years....so it wouldn't be a big deal. Every now and again I use FM....mainly just Cd's...

I'm surprised the others didn't know...

Yes a unit over there will have full range FM 87.5-108 MHz
US models range FM 87.9-107.9 MHz

You'll pick up odds and ends on the MW and LW bands as well.

I have a UK spec S2000 radio I use for testing harnesses so I know for sure.

Go get it man!

Thanks, Lucid for the information.

Something I'll have to think about.

Not far from ordering your rear speaker mod.

Might switch to Sony Unit so I can use the Dash controls and not have to worry about all the inherit problems with going to Alpine.

Think this will be my X-MAS gift to my car.
