New headunit. . . no sound?

New headunit. . . no sound?
I just installed an Alpine XDA-9886 into my '00 AP1. I originally wired it up without using the rear speaker wires (I have no rear speakers). When I plugged it all in I got power to the headunit, power to all accessories, but no sound out of the speakers. So, I pulled it all apart, connected the rear speaker wires from the Alpine harness, to the jumper harness, but still had no sound to my speakers. I'm running on all factory equipment minus the aftermarket headunit.
So, anyone got any ideas?

Yeah, it's the CDA-9886. I bought it new, and had it in another vehicle. The headunit may be shot, it was involved in a roll over when I had it in my last vehicle. I knew this going in to this install, but wasn't 100% as to whether is good or not. I'm using a Metra 70-721 adapter that runs from the vehicle plug, and then has to be tied into the Alpine harness.
Again, I'm fully aware that the headunit may be no good, I just wanted to give it a try before I go out and buy another one. If it is shot, no big deal, but if I'm missing something and it can be reused, great!

Did you have sound with the OEM radio? Have you check all sources (CD, FM, iPod, etc) individually for sound. If you have and still have no sound, I'd look into the sub-menu and make sure the audio isn't coming out of the RCA pre-outs. With some units, if the signal outputs through the RCA pre-outs, it won't output through the regular speaker wires. Other than that, check to make sure none of the speaker wires aren't grounding out anywhere.

That's exactly what it was. I ran the entire system in my last car through the RCA jacks, and amps. I forgot that I had to manually change the settings for the head unit when I did so. I went in and checked and sure as shit it was set to run through the RCA outputs still.
Thanks for the help man, I appreciate it.
