Thanks in advance for the help.
I'm planning to install a new head unit w/ amp and have some question on wiring.
Should I continue to use a stock harness even with the RCAs going from the HD to the amp and the amp going to the speakers? I know that keeping all the wires in a harness would look more organized, but what is the best/easiest way.
FYI I will also be attempting the PAC SWI3 install at the same time.
PS If anyone has leftover PAC units from the various group buys, please PM me.
thanks,
Will

I wouldn't recommend splicing into the stock harness. Not simply because you want to keep things "clean", but because you might put in a different stereo one of these days. You can only cut a few times before there isn't any wire left. :0 Frankly it would be easier to wire your head unit to the harness before installing it in the dash.
Remember to purchase a 3.3k resistor, and a relay. The resistor will ensure the PAC functions with the dash buttons, and the relay is needed to enable the mute button.
Which head unit and amp are you using?

Ok, I get ya..
So I use a new harness on the deck, but don't connect the speaker wires b/c of the RCAs? Does that sound right? I hear you on the resistor and the relay, but I think mine will be 2.7k for the MY2000, right?
The HU is the JVC KD-SH99 MP3. The amp is the Xtant M404 (50x4).
Thanks,
Will

I have a MY 2000. Buy both, and give them a swing. Radio Shack sells packs of these resistor for 98 cents/6 resistors.
Use the stereo harness for accessory, 12v+ to battery, and dash control.
Wire the head unit mute to relay then to SWI-3.
Run ground and amplifier remote to the trunk[amplifier]. (use the same chassis point to ground every stereo component)
Run the RCA's to the trunk[amplifier].
Run speaker wire from the trunk[amplifier] to the doors.
Sorry, but I think I forgot one wire.

Since you are using an amp, make sure you turn off the internal amp on the JVC. This will increase the life of the JVC and keeps it running nice and cool.

S2,
I agree with jp, use another plug-in harness to keep the stock one, but forget about the stock speaker wires, they're too thin to be of any real use. If you haven't already, see my webpage for PAC install instructions.
Gold,
He can always use a couple of relays to mute the speakers themselves, as I outlined in some previous posts. I wouldn't call it an elegant solution, but it is workable.
