Need to sound proof trunk?
I am about to soundproof my car. Using spray in product and layer of thin foam like material. A heat stopping material on the center tunnel.
Here's my question. I'm thinking that instead of deadening the trunk I could use studeo acoustic foam up against the trunk barrier to keep the sound from coming into the passenger compartment, thereby saving weight. I might even do the same thing behind the seats thereby saving on the weight of sound deadening the area over the gas tank. Any reason why this wouldn't work? I'm not planning on a sub in the trunk.
Thanks,
Ken

I think it would work..but...if you take off panels behind the seat , there is already a healthy amount of foam (from what I remember) so the difference may be minor. May I ask what the name of the spray stuff is? Thinking about doing the same thing. Thanks ^_^

Why are you trying to save weight if you are throwing a sub in the trunk? You dont want to keep sound OUT if you are putting a sub in the trunk. Use dynamat to minimize vibrations, and keep the sound IN the car.
