Need some help on sub enclosure choice
#1
Have a new JL300/4 on the way and want to add a sub to the rear channels bridged. There is a group buy for a stealthbox for $425-450 but still need to mount the amp...probably in the tire well. I thought about making a custom enclosure for both amp and sub (ala old bingo box), it got complicated rather quickly. I found a q-logic box today....the truck model for $70.
the box sticks up a bit, but otherwise fills out the trunk well.....has anyone used this box? I am probably going to buy a JL 10W3....any experience with this combo. Any guesses how it would compare to the stealthbox? I see alot of the stealthbox buyers "upgrading"...Is this because of sub performace or how it looks in the trunk? Decisions, Decisions....any other suggestions...anyone willing to share their custom box dimesions for a 10"...need ~.65 cuft.

I have that exact Q logic enclosure. It works pretty well and it almost fits perfectly in the trunkwell. I purchased mine for $60 and it sounds pretty good. I currently have an MTX Thunder 10" which gives a nice tight bass response.
The only negative is that it does not hit the lows that well. But there is only so much that can be done for the limited airspace in the trunk. The JL 10w3 may give better low-end bass response, but I can only speculate as I've only had experience with a 12w3 in my previous car. Hope that helps

The 300/4 won't fit in the spare tire, I tried as did my installer. Nor will it fit in the tight space to the left of that. If you remove the spare tire, then it will fit
Here's where mine is instead (next to my music keg )

I've got my 300/4 wedged into the spare. Not elegant but it gets the job done and no wasted trunk space. Still early to tell if I will have heat problems with the spare cover in place.
There's also enough space in the fuel filler area on the left but then you have to figure how to secure the amp so it doesn't move around.

Here is my solution...the amp sits almost flush with the top of the trunk deck....amp is mounted to the cover for my JL Stealbox. I have some slack in the wires if I need to remove the cover for whatever reason.
Still need to tweak the system a bit....but am very happy with the install....glad I spent the extra $$$ for the JL box.
