CompuStar is a pain in the neck.....I'm a professionally installer for 6 years now and i've never seen am alarm that terrifies installers more than compustar. Many wiring issues and reliability problems. I would go with any Directed Electronics brand alarm: Viper, Clifford..etc. theres a VIPER 671 XV model that is a 2 way lcd system that is the hottest thing in alarms to date. Great Functionality, and endless upgrade options for triggers, sensors, remote start etc. And best of all the 2 way feature acts as a mini-pager to inform you of commands or System triggers and is good up to 1000 feet or more.

ON paper, it is the best alarm you can get. I dont care so much as install difficulty as I do how it actually works. From what I read, people are very happy with it, but I would like to hear a pro's opinion. What do you think about the functionality?

I've also read a lot of good things about Compustar. I don't want to buy an alarm that will be difficult to install which would = a higher installation cost. I do plan on taking my car to a professional to have it done. After messing around with my Civic, I don't want to take any chances with this car
I've read on this forum about Clifford Matrix 2.5. Some people say that it costs as much as the unit itself to install. Is this the case? How much is an average install for a car alarm for our cars?
Any other suggestions? Remember, I'm on a budget!

Compustar, while a great alarm, from what I hear, is THE most difficult alarm to install. Compustar install prices are usually $600 or more. Im doing it myself tho, so not an issue for me.
