Need help w/Alpine 9857 with rear speakers & DCI
I have a question for some electronic experts.
I have a 2003 S2000. Two years ago, I installed some Kenwood 5 1/4s in the rear and placed a Kenwood wOOx sub in the passenger side footwell. It definitely improved the sound quality.
Fast forward to this year. My dad had a bulk pack of Dynamat unused from a recent project. I decided to insulate the doors, floorboard, and possibly the trunk. I figured I might as well put a better system in it while I had it apart.
So from Crutchfield I ordered a Alpine 9857 deck and Polk db6500 components for the front. I want to order Modifry's wired DCI to keep functionality on the dash controls. But from looking at the wiring harness that Crutchfield sent and from looking at Modifry's instructions, I can't quite figure out how to splice in the rear speakers.
So my questions are:
1) Does anyone know if the Modifry will work with rear speakers?
2) If I have already altered the wiring harness on the stock radio to accomodate the rear speakers, will the one that Crutchfield sent be simply a plug and play?
3) How do you get the dead rest pedal unclipped?
Any help would be much appreciated.

slap me if ive got a loose screw in the nogging, but why would DCI have anything to do with rear speakers?
dci piggybacks on your system and lets you use the left side controls to operate your HU. has nothing to do with speakers
new HU requires a different harness from the stock one. youre GOING to need to do some rewiring. you w00x is probably spliced off the rear or some mess. either way youre going to want an amplifier, itll better amplify the db6500 components.
rest pedal needs not to be touched as part of the install.

When you originally added rear speakers, did you use a Lucid-style
adaptor harness which goes between the factory head unit and the
car's harness?
if so, remove it - it's not necessary for an aftermarket headunit.
If the Crutchfield-supplied harness is a standard generic Honda adaptor
harness that you need to splice to the Alpine harness, what you need to do
is splice it as directed, however instead of splicing the four rear-channel
wires (+ & -) to the adaptor harness, spice them directly to the wires
running back to the rear speakers.
Now for the problem - it's unlikely that the Crutchfield adaptor harness
has the two wires for the dash buttons. Modifry sells his own adaptor
harness which does have the two dash wires which will make it much
easier to install the DCI. Or if you're feeling adventurous, it's possible
to move unused wires (like the rear-speaker wires) to new locations
in the adaptor harness.
