Thumbs up Need help with new Alpine HU install for 99 TL

My bro has a 99 Acura TL. He bought a Alpine CDA-9886 HU yesterday. The install went smooth, but when we tested the speakers, the stock Bose subwoofer was not working. Is there a wire in the harness that specifically works with the subwoofer that goes into the HU? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

on the back of the HU there are rca outputs but the factory HU harness does not have inputs. I'm guessing the subwoofer wire is in the harness but I dont see... does anyone know what color it is? Also, will the factory subwoofer work with this alpine HU?
or could it be a fuse that is bad?
thanks

I would say you are going to have to drive it with an amp. That may be tough as the Bose sub is probably very low impedance.

^ you are correct. I found out that it will not work with the HU unless I use an amp.

My old Taurus SHO had externally amplified speakers and it created a serious pain in my butt when I swapped out the deck. In the end I just threw new speakers in because it was more of a pain to purchase components to drive the factory speakers than it was to just replace em. Sound quality was better after as well.

If I were your brother I would pick up a replacement sub and amp and just install them in place of the Bose. Chances are he'll be happier with the sound anyway.

Actually ur all taking the hard way out.. You can integrate the subwoofer.. we always give the option to our customers to integrate or rewire.
You just have to find the subwoofers amp turn on wire, and find if the signal going to the sub is low level or high level...
You can integrate any boss, jbl, monsoon, or any factory system if you have patients and actually test wires.
Done it many times.. not on a tl yet but its all the same when it boils down to it, just differ wire colors.

Last time we did that generation TL, we had to use and external amp as well. We usually integrate as well, but I dont believe it could be done in the TL for some reason.
