After listening to Focal speakers (165K) I went and bought them. They sound awsome!!! And they are only $299 shipped on onlinecarstereo.com. Here's a dealer in BocaRaton so you can go listen to them...CAR & DRIVER AUTO BOUTIQUE INC 176 A Glades Rd. Boca Raton, FL 33432 Phone# 561-361-0048. As for the sub, I went and listened to the new JL 12W6v2 and it sounds awsome and that was only $299(cheaper than I could find on the internet) at my dealer here in Utah.
These are just my opinions as far as what sounds good to me. But please do yourself a favor and at least listen to the Focal components if nothing else.

PUTTING MY FLAME SUIT ON><

It is my honest belief that people believe what they are constantly fed through an advertising medium. The JL subs are 1 example of this. JL has not made the BEST anything for a long time. Their subs used to be very good, but now, nothing more than an overpriced hype. Lets take the W7. Looks mean.......says JL on it, but thats it. They are the worst sounding subs I have heard for a long time. I have heard them in ported, sealed, free air, show cars, friends cars.,.,.I heard it all.......I hate the sound they produce. They sound like they are peaking all the time (rubber stretches to the max) rattles from frequencies it doesnt like, and finally, price.

A w6 for $299 is insane. This is the major reason why I have a problem with JL, they are good, but not nearly that good to justify their prices. A friend of mine has 2 W7's is his GTI. Another friend has 1 t2-10 in his 325....the sound is uncomparable....the "loudness" , ill give to the 2 W7's (however 2 t2-10 will kill 2 w7's) But the clarity and richness of bass night and day. The soundstream is clean, rich, detailed....while the JL is just messy pushed around air. For the money JL wants for subs.....400+for W7 and 250+ for W2V2, you can get a plenthora or better and cheaper subs....
I think we should all stop buying JL and let them come to their senses and lower prices.....

I know flames will come....but usually comes from JL loyalists......

I have no flames...just giving bullet1123 an opinion. Actually, this is my first JL sub I've had. I used to have Orion's, but I don't want to use my whole trunk for a box. So, something that works well in a small enclosure was a factor. I looked around and that is what I like, again an opinion. Just as yours is that you don't like JL.

Of course I don't agree with the $299 for a 12W6v2 being insanely priced. I even looked while I was in Los Angeles and couldn't find it cheaper(at an authorized dealer with warranty). Send me a link to a cheaper price. Even onlinecarstereo.com is $339.

OK lattest Quote from a local shop....I still havent decided but this guy threw some new names into the mix and I figured I keep those of you tracking my progress up to date with my progress....

front speakers - MMATTS components $360

Custom fiderglass box with MMATTS 10" $400

kicker 600 x 4 amp (150x2 for the components and 300x1 for the sub) $580

$200 for installation including installing my alpine HU

Total $1540....a few hundred over budget ....the mmatts components really sounded great he had them in a board right next to the mbquartz and they sounded better (less tiny than the MBs).....

one more local installer I want to check out tommorow and one more trip to sound advice, then hopefully ill make a decission my tons of research and expert advice from those of you that have been so kind to help....

any opinions on the MMATS, and kicker amp?

How would you bridge 3 channels?

I didnt actually mean 3...its was a late night post i think.....i meant 2 for fronts, 1 for sub, and 2 for possibly rears....my mistake....

As far as a kicker amp.....220......get it, 580, forGET it.

Never heard of the speakers you are talking about, but if you heard them and liked them, then thats all that matters. let us know how it sounds....

Ohh....and I didnt mean you can find a W6V2 for less than 299, i meant you can get a MUCH better sub for LESS money. (like a Tarantula)

JL is waaaaaaay overrated.

alpine 7894 HU $250
MMATS 6.5" components (best speakers ive heard) $360
JL audio stealthbox $480
JL audio 500/5 amp $600
(250/1 to the sub...100/2 to the components...and 25/2 left over incase I want to add rears or a center later)

slightly over budget but well worth it....the system sounds incredible...I would post pics but everything is hidden...without opening the door to the HU the car appears to have a stock system, but turn up the volume and its a different world...

Where did you mount the amp?

You can still show us pics of the trunk, I doubt that looks stock.
