Default MY06 Headrest Speaker

anyways, has anyone with MY06+ replaced their headrest speakers, and if so, which ones and how are they now? i am not planning on changing the HU or installing an amp or anything, etc. i just want the headrest speakers to actually make a difference and not waste space. because the my06 headrest speakers are CRAP! they sound worse than a hotel clock radio... good GAWD! what was honda thinking????

You'll get much better sound changing the headunit out...

crap in = crap out and even worse if the speakers suck. But if you feed those speakers some actual power from a nice aftermarket HU you'll be very surprised how good they can sound.

Its a stock system... it sucks... there's no way around it

If you really want halfway decent sound get yourself a new Headunit, new door speakers and leave those rear ones alone just rewire them

of course it sucks stock... just can't believe it sucks THAT bad, especially the headrest

the only reservations i have with upgrading the stereo in the s2k is that the car is so loud and there's so much road noise to contend with... plus it's an ongoing battle whether i want to hear music form a disc or music from the engine, LOL!

A few '06 owners have added S-Pods and are very happy. Hundreds of '00-'05 owners have added them and are happy too. www.streetsmarttechnologies.net

My 07 rear speakers sound like total garbage. I switched the fader all the way to back and I cannot believe how bad they are. Even though the stereo in not that good, it could still sound reasonable. But these speakers are junk. There must be another solution other than a complete stereo change.

that was my original gripe, i did the same exact thing as you and was amazed by how much they sucked. but according to darkKnight it's not the speakers fault; it's the head unit and cables.

I would not recommend changing the rear speakers without a headunit. If you get new speakers with out some sorta of amp or HU, you will under power the speakers and eventually they will blow. The best best is to get a new HU and keep the stock speakers. The updated HU will make the stock speakers sound a lot better! Then down the road you get new speakers and possibly upgrade to an amp.
