MOMO speakers, are they any good?
#1
I've heard it in my local store, sounds really good, open and natural mid, clear high, round and sweet bass. But, I don't see anyone talk about it here. I'm planning to upgrade the audio system in my S, and thinking of pair it up with Alpine 9813, maybe add an amp and rear speakers later down the road.
Are they any good, and fit?
Thanks guys.

WOW!, thanks Lucid. I've been lurking on your site for a while, very interesting stuff. I think, but I'm not sure, I will need some kind of mapping equipment to make the 9813 works with the car audio control, right? Also, the door speaker is 6-3/4 and 2-3/4 in depth, I'm affraid it might not fit, though. I'm not sure about the size of OEM tweeter, but the MOMO is 1"
You said I'll need an amp right the way, is 27 Watts x4 not enough for the MOMO compartment systems?, I'm just gonna do the door speakers for now. If it sound good and loud enough, I'm gonna add just two small subs in the raer panals, instead of another two rear speakers and a sub in the trunk, and be done with it.
Thanks for your reply.

i demo'ed the MOMO components and found them to be an excellent speaker... my only personal issue that pushed me away was that they had a very open air sound vs a good direct on axis sound - that's purely personal opinion and many people like the open diffracted sound... still, for the price, they were very accurate and very tonally neutral.

I advise you not to install the rear speaker. Interior is so small. 2 component speakers w/seperate tweeter, one 10" sub, good head unit, and one 4 channel amp are good enough. It'll sound better with equilizer. This is my advice to you. good luck!

160.00$+SHIPPING !!!!!!!!! OH-MY-GOD !!!!!!! That is a incredible deal! Lucid, you are killing me, man!
I still don't understand the custom cut door ring, though(sorry, I've no clue when it comes to car audio). Where can I get it, and how much more it'll cost me?, 'cause I think I still need some kindda mapping equipment for the head unit to work with the car audio control system.
imsport, your tonal description is right. The MM6 is a very airry, open sounding. I went to try 'em together with a pair of Kenwood, a hi-fi sounding speakers today, they sounded good together! I got those mist-like high, and deep soft round bass hi-fi-ish from Kenwood. And, got a drier, more focus, definition, and natural mid from MM6, very cool indeed!, not too wet and not too dry. And I was only use the 9813 to drive 'em! It was already LOUD !!! But, I couldn't imagine the sound of the Kenwood being behind the seat, though, it might get more treby and flatter( I also think that the hi-fi characteristic of it would helps for this odd location). So, as PJK3 suggested, I'm still not sure about the rear.
OH Yeh!!!, that MOMO sub is niiiiice!!! It's big, it's heavy, just like it sound! My local shop has it in the case just like the one on Lucid site. But now, I'm only focus on head unit and door compartment( the truth is I don't have that much money....).
Thanks again guys.
