Mikey,

What did you not like with the Alpine unit as compared to the DCI?
A list!

It sometimes stopped working
It overheated
It was a to get in behind the HU
It didn't have the extra function of the Modifry
It didn't have speed sensitive volume control!

Mikey,

Thanks for the list!

When I bought my DCI in 2003, the Alpine unit was not on my "radar". After looking on the web last night, it appears it is not generally available in the US. I then went to Alpine's US site, and clicked on their US distributor; the part was not there either. Glad I didn't waste my money.

If you are fortunate enough to find a KCE-865B, purchase it.

Alpine products > garage built crap
Are you kidding me!

I think your either new here, don't have an S2k (cause if you did you'd have known who Modifry is), too arogant, or just trolling.

Let us know which one it is cause:

Modifry garbage > Alpine.

I would NOT brag about how Alpine products being superior.

1) My less than 1 month PDX-4.150 amplifier has been to Alpine Service Dept twice. They finally replaced it with a brand new one. Let's see how long I'll have to wait until it goes back to Alpine Service Dept. It's extremely frustrating especially when one forks out so much money and ends up with an unreliable product.

2) I currently have the PAC system. It works 50% of the time. I've taken it back to AL & ED as they wanted to check if there was a problem with loose wiring. Anyhow, they came to conclusion that the PAC system tend to have this so-called "delayed" problem. I went with PAC based on AL & ED's recommendation. Well, it turned out to be a non-stellar performer.

3) I will definitely change to DCI by Modifry when I change my HU (with DVD) in a couple of months. From the numerous testimonials I've read, guys here are very satisfied with the DCI.

cheers
