Malfunciton light on
I need help guys.
Ever since I've installed my amp, the yellow malfunction light lights up (the engine shape object)
I brought the car for service and they said that it was because the amp was drawing too much current from the battery. I would need a relay?
Is this correct? what is a relay?
I don't believe this is the problem cause when i switch off the amp, the light still comes on.
Secondly i accidently made a little cut in one of the wires in the grommet around the battery, could it be related to this?
The service department said it wasn't related and wouldn't replace it.
What should i do

A relay is a switch that's activated (turned on or off) by electricity. It won't reduce the amount of current your amp draws (at least not when it's switched on). There needs to be some way for the amp to know to switch off when the ignition is off though. Was there a connection to the ignition circuit?
Is your warning light on all the time? If the engine is running then the alternator should be able to deliver enough current for the amp with no trouble. (Actually I think the check engine light should be on when the engine is off anyway).
Many cars have multiple power circuits. You might have connected to one with a low current rating, but it sounds like you connected it directly to the battery? If that's the case I very much doubt your amp is directly causing the problem, but you might have disturbed something else during the install.
You need to get the dealer to plug their computer in and get an error code from the ECU.
By the way, did the dealer agree to put your Mobil 1 in?
