Lucid Rear Speakers Help
Hi,
I'm considering to get a little better sound by adding Lucid rear speakers(panel, not headrest) to the factory OEM radio on my MY04 S2K.
I would appreciate if someone can help on my questions...
1.When I see S2000 rear speak systems on the Lucid web site,
It has a selection for OEM(Adds Rear Speaker Harness)+$50 or After market+$0.
Do I need to order this harness for MY04 factory radio?
(I'm not sure what's included in this +$50.)
2.I don't see any installation pages on their web site for speaker wires.
Is it routed through a center console or side step? Is is easy to route?
Also any speaker selections advise would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I am not sure if the wires are there on the harness but the pins are there on the back of the HU so you should be able to solder extra wires into the connector. If you haven't set your mind on the lucid panels yet you can fit 3-1/4 " speakers behind the louvres in the back panel and the wires can run under the fold of carpet that covers the top of the transmission tunnel. this mod cost me $60 and made a huge difference to the sound at high speed driving. OK I don't like to have the bass so high that the body panels pulse to the beat, so it may not be for everyone.

Hello oxhouser,
Thanks for your adivise.
Behinde the louvre panel? That's interesting.
How did you mount your speaker?
Is it mounted to the panel(backside)?
In that case, Some screw holes are visible on the front panel.
I just wonder what is the louvre function on the panel.
No problem to cover by the speakerl?
How about speaker wire routing?
Did you need to disassembly any consor console unit?
Regards.

Take the wires first as its easy to explain they go under the carpet fold of the transmission tunnel if you are carefull you don,t even have to remove the plastic pins. The speakers fit in a channel behind the grill and i used a 6" x 2.5" peice of fibre board to mount them. I cut a half circle out so that the board fit to the top half of the speaker and then drilled two holes in the lip of the channel and screwed through the channel into the board, there is no visible sign from the outside. I think the vents are there to help the doors and trunk lid shut, it allows the trapped air to move, I have had no problem with this installation. because the speakers are small you don't get loads of bass but it fills in the mid range when driving at speed. I do a lot of motorway driving and always struggled to hear what was being said on the radio with speeds over 70 MPH --not any more. I have pictures but don't know how to post them
