Thanks for the insight Stealth_SUX_. I also PMed you a question, but will pose it here in case anyone else has the answer.

Are you able to hook (hard wire) the audio of any of these devices to the car's stereo system? I'm not too keen on the FM transmitter function that some of these devices have.

If not, are you able to hear the spoken directions on the unit with the top down at speed on the highway? Does it speak the actual street names or does it just say things like, "Turn right 300 meters ahead"?

Thanks!
I pm'ed you but i will post for everyone else.

The nuvi series has an audio jack output, now if you have a female audio jack (looks like a regular headphone jack) on your radio then you can plug it in that way..
Other then that the higher end ones have FM transmitters.
The downfall of both of them is that you have to be listening to them and them only, it wont automatically switch over from your radio to the navigation.
If you want that then I suggest getting a in dash navi, like a pioneer or alpine.

As for the voice I highly doubt you will be able to hear it with the top down on the freeway..

And most of the garmin nuvi series will say the actual street names out loud, except for the low end ones.

Nuvi 350 FTW. Do a search on here, there are plenty of people including myself who have recommended the 350 in the past.

I have the MyGuide 3000 which you can pick up at Fry's Electronics (California Bay Area) for around $250. The nice thing about it (IMO) is you can flip out the antenna and wedge it into the drivers RH vent and avoid the unsightly windshield mount. Makes it much easier to reach, it doesn't vibrate, and it's easier to see.

Here's their link: http://www.my-guide.de/en/pro.php?p=11

Here's the owners manual PDF: http://www.my-guide.de/foto/download...000_EN_new.pdf

I really like that you can touch any point on the map (no address necessary) and have it calculate a route to that spot via the touch screen scrolling map feature. It's a very handy feature when you don't know a specific address, but need a route to a general area. Just touch the spot, click "Route to" and bingo...it plots a route, tells you the time and distance.

Since it doesn't come with a bag, I bought a small digital camera bag to store both the GPS and power cord. It fits nicely into the S2000 center storage bin. I found it was easy to use right out of the box, has plenty of customizable features and best of all, it was less expensive than the Garmin, Tomtom and Magellan models and works just as well.

Just one more GPS you might consider. :-)

Nuvi 350 all the way. Navigated through DC traffic in the minivan with 2 screaming kids, an impatient wife and complaining inlaws on-board. With all that chaos going on, I still had a smile on my face as made each turn!
