Looking for car navigation
Hey guys,
I am looking into purchasing a navigation unit and was wondering if you had any recommendations as to what model would be best. After doing a little bit of research I am considering the Nuvi 350 or 360. This unit would be going between my s2k, DD, and wifes car. So what have you used or what would you recommend? This is my first navigation purchase.
Thanks in advance

I found a Magellan Roadmate 2000 at a local chain store here on clearance for $160. It work great and the entire unit (gps/windshield mount) fits in the lower center bin.

Look at the Garmin 2720 as well. Great unit, has the whole US on its hard drive as well as a good amount of the yellow pages on it for just about anything you would need while out on the road. Also fits nicely in the left corner of the dash and can be moved from car to car in less then 2 seconds...
I picked mine up at GPSworld.com and paid $399 for a new in the box unit. It goes for over $900 at bestbuy...
Do your home work on the GPS...more bells and whitsles does not always = a better unit...
Good luck!

well if your looking at the 350/360... ask yourself, Do I need bluetooth? cuz that is the only difference between the two, and as far as an external antenna being needed with the 350, not true, unless you mount the unit away from the windsheild.
tomtom 720 is another good unit, just received it at work last week, great unit!

Ok guys I work with all of these all day long..
So heres the low down..
GARMIN and garmin only.
NEVER a tomtom, they are the worst gps company out there, when it breaks and it will your screwed they have no customer support or service.
Magellan as a second choice, But only get the newer Maestro series.. All the other series from magellans are nice but the maestro series is very advanced and is made much better quality and doesn't look as cheap...
Now back to garmin, they have one of the highest rating gps's out there, rated by users and companies.
The difference between the 660 and the 350:
The 660 has a bigger screen 4.3 inch and bluetooth for wireless calling
The 350 has the smaller 3.5 inch screen and no bluetooth.
Now personally I like the bigger screen and could care less about the bluetooth, because there is to much road noise.
I would go with the nuvi 650 it is the same as the 660 but without the bluetooth. Best Buy had it on sale last week for $499. U might be able to find it cheaper online also they had the 350 for $399 last week as well..
Garmin is the only company, they have very good customer support, they were designed in the USA, unlike TOMTOM who gps was made for europe and they just reflashed it with US maps.
And NO the antenna is not needed, unless you drive like a SEMI-Truck..
Seriously I know my GPS's, I sell them every day, and I get to see which ones come back because they break, so ask me your questions..
