lo-jack

Lojack works......my civic is proof of that.. My S has it and to answer your questions.......YES I would want it back. I don't want anyone else riding in my car. I've had 3 cars stolen....the only one that was returned was the one with lo-jack.

The immobolizer hasn't stopped thieves in the past and sure isn't going to stop them now. The 04+ S2k's are the ones you don't have to worry about since their keys are laser cut.
If it is easy to steal an S then why do thieves only go for the seats and steering wheels? Why not steal the whole car?
IMO, lo-jack is only good for a situation where you get car-jacked. Just make sure to have your cellphone or pocket change on you so you can call and have them track down the car right away.

SIIK2NR, when you got your car back, how long did it take? did it drive the same? was there any damage?
I was more happy that I got it back cause it's been a really good car and is very reliable.

A couple years back I spent a few weeks with the LA Sheriff's doing research for a script. Some of the crusiers, and all of the helicopters, were fitted with LoJack receivers. I observed them occasionally going off and each time the deputies ignored it. Finally I asked one of them why they didn't respond and they replied that stolen car recovery wasn't part of their assignment. That was up the auto theft unit. In other words, "not my job". Perhaps in some locals the cops do respond, but in the greater SoCal area, forget it.

The best system is only as good as those folks who are willing to pursue it. That just about sums it up for me. What is the point of Lo Jack, if the law enforcement does not consistently monitor and act on the information?

I will try to keep this as unbiased as possible,
Here are the advantages of Lo Jack:
1. When the car is stolen it is "usually" recovered within an hour.
2. If it is recovered in more than 24 hours you will get a check that covers the parts and installation of Lo Jack (in our case it is $995).
3. If is it not recovered in thirty days you get a check for $2500 from Lo Jack to you, and another check for $2500 from Lo Jack to the dealer that you purchased the car from to help you purchase another vehicle from that dealer. Total value: $5000
4. It allows you to know if you car has been moved without the key remotes, great for knowing what the dealer is doing with your car while you are in service.
5. The police is our area are big fans of Lo Jack, they tend to get excited when their receiver goes off in their patrol car.
6. The mechanic that installs Lo Jack into a car has signed a contract with Lo Jack stating he is not allowed to disclose the location of the unit in the car.
7. The locations that the unit can be installed in are numerous and different each time (thieves would have to tear apart the whole car to find it, wasting valuable time).
8. Does not need line of sight like OnStar, works anywhere a pager does.
Here are the disadvantages of Lo Jack:
1. Who wants their stolen car back. (not me)
