Finally got the alpine cda 9857 and modifry dci for around 458 total. It came with the ipod connector which was huge for me and installation kit. Crutchfield was a good shopping experience and helped me decide on the model.

I'll post pics and impressions as time goes along. Has anyone installed a stereo using Crutchfield's kit know if anything is missing for the install? I saw that there was going to be a small gap using their fitment kit, is there a way to avoid this?

 

The 9857 fits fine without any additional fit kits... I'll check my install in the morning, but with the trimplate, it looked pretty good. Remove the brackets from the original HU and attach to 9857.

Hopefully you bought Modifry's wiring harness adapter, it has additional leads for the dash controls. Not sure the Crutchfield wiring harness adapter will have the leads...

 

It doesn't -- I got my '9857 from Crutchfield and their adapter was missing the mute and remote leads.

Hmm... that's too bad about the wiring adapter from Crutchfield. Oh well, what's a few more t-connectors on the factory wiring?
