JDM SatNav Screen
Hi peeps,
Just got an S2000, Jap import, has the sat nav screen and the honda navigation dvd unit in the boot.
Unfortunatly the screen doesn't turn on and the unit in the boot is disconnected.
Does anyone know if i can get the unit and satnav to work in the uk or even if it will just play dvd's?
If not what/how can I use the screen?
Thanks,
Si

I read a similar thread of someone who had the JDM Nav in Australia. He said that the problem was that he had to know how to read Japanese, as there was not language translation for the unit. It also only took the Japanese Nav discs, which were useless in Australia.
Do a search.....the thread will most likely turn up.

I'm not really too bothered if i cant use the satnav bit... but i'd like the screen to be able to play dvd's for my other half on long journeys...
From what u say it looks like the black honda unit will only play japanese satnav dvds... bugger!

I'm not an expert, but the screen is just a monitor. Perhaps you can purchase an alternate DVD player to swap out for the JDM unit and have all the functionality you want. Just a thought.

Thats what I thought.. but I cant even find where the connection to the DVD unit is made in the boot/trunk...
I was certain a few days ago that someone would have been through this before but now i'm not so certain...

Was the JDM unit installed in the trunk? Maybe it was somewhere else and has been stored in the trunk for security in transport.
My aftermarket unit is under the passenger seat, FWIW. Maybe you'll find wires there or elsewhere.
Chris.

When I looked in the trunk there was a CD changer mounted on the left hand side and the DVD Navi unit was on the left hand side, but with no wires going into it.
I've had a look behind the carpeted areas but can't seem to see anything that looks like I would connect into the back of the box.
Also checked under the passenger seat and found nothing...

I guess the obvious thing, albeit the most involved is to gain access to the back of the screen and start following the wires. There is almost no chance the whole harness has been removed but the screen and nav unit left behind. That would be just plain mean. Somebody on the board will be able to tell you how to look up under there. I know I can't....yet.
Last thought (though you've probably looked already) is to check where your tool box is supposed to be (recessed section at the bottom of the trunk/boot). Space would fit the nav unit if tools removed.
Good luck. Let me know what you find out. Curious now.....

Checked - no cigar...
Looks like im going to have to follow the loom back like you say, although thats not something i'm looking forward to doing - i've done all this stuff with the previous imported cars I had and I think at 25 i'm getting a bit long in the tooth to do it.. may just have to throw money at someone and scream "make it work!"...

The US Odyssey and the S2000 JDM Navi unit look just about identical. Any Hondas were you are have navi units?

and this:

The 00-03 S2000's used a version 5 series disc, which from the page I'm looking at is gold colored. the 04 and up use version 8 which is greenish-blue. I'd just suggest looking for a Navi unit from a local Honda and seeing if it's a drop-in fit.
