It will look better it you just have a good shop make a bezel for whatever in dash unit you purchase. I've worked with and dealt with both, building a bezel from scratch will give you a better end result every time.
Pick out a unit you like and have them install it in a custom bezel.

okay thanks guys, im sure the quality would be ten times better but i think having a bezel made would just be out of my budget as i was only planning on buying a indash navi for around 400-700 and the bezel 85 plus paying someone to cut my dash

Just remember that the JDM bezel needs to be fixed to somewhat fit right as well. Its a JDM bezel which means it faces the wrong direction. Basically your trying to install that bezel on a dash that it was never intended to fit. The install will still cost at least $3-400.
Just keep it in mind.
Good luck with the project though!

i am kicking around the idea of making a double din kit - bezel, what kind of interest do you think there will be for a item? between tooling and setup, then to make it, it would put them about $200, but this would come with a paper templet you tape to dash showing where to cut and how to install.

When installing a bezel, it looks a lot more professional if you can install it flush, rather than sitting on top of the surface of the dash.
You can do this by trimming back the foam padding under the vinyl to clear the entire bezel but DO NOT TRIM BACK THE VINYL ITSELF. Just pull the vinyl up and trim the foam under it back to where the edge of the bezel would reach.
This creates a recess under the vinyl that the bezel can sit into and give the appearance of being flush with the surrounding vinyl. The vinyl itself still continues under the bezel so there are no visible raw edges.
