Default Ipod connectivity

Hey guys,
Im looking to get iPod connectivity to the stereo. What is the best route? Should i get a new head unit, or an iPod interface like GTA car kit or something?
I would probably prefer to get a new head unit, but I would rather not lose any dash controls.
Thanks,
Adam

Get a new head unit. The S2000 head unit IMO is the worst part of the car. A new head unit with the Honda OE speakers will greatly improve audio quality. then purchase a DCI from Modifry and you won't lose the dash controls. I have a pioneer in my car and all of the dash controls work.

When i bought my car it came with an alpine head unit with ipod connectivity, It also kept the dash control. I think there is a harness that you can buy to plug and play with different head unit manufacturers.

Modifry makes a harness for alpine units that is plug and play and they also make a dci to use the dash controls. All worthwhile parts to buy. Makes the instal an very quick job.

It completely depends on what you are looking for and if you plan on upgrading the rest of the system.

Best, good, etc are always highly subjective on matter what the topic (whether it's head unit versus interface, which head unit, or any other subject). You need to give us your criteria if you want recommendations. What are your must haves? what's your budget? What are your priorities? What are your preferences? What are your short term and long term goals? What have you used in the past and liked and why? What have you used in the past and not liked and why? Always supply this information no matter what the topic. Don't just assume that everyone has the same notion of best/good/etc. Otherwise we'd all use the exact same stuff.

If you have no idea then spend some time and read up on the options. Head units are a very common topic in this subforum and there are plenty of other resources you can use to compare.

If ease of installation is a priority I'd definitely recommend the Modifry PnP harness. IIRC, Alpine's not the only make that Modifry offers a PnP harness for. Info is on his site.

Hello,

This is my first time posting and I am posting about replacement head unit for a 2004 S2000. I found several units on crutchfield.com that meet my requirements:

- Blutooth support
- Steering control
- AUX input - Front
- USB input - Rear
- USB port - Front
- iPhone 5/5s Integration

The following units match these requirements:

- Pioneer DEH-X8600BS (http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130X860...S.html?tp=5684)
- Pioneer DEH-X8600BH (http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130X860...H.html?tp=5684)
- JVC KD-HDR52 (http://www.crutchfield.com/p_105KDHD...2.html?tp=5684)

Crutchfield recommended Axxess ASWC-1 for steering control integration:

No here are my questions:

1) Could I close the factory radio cover if I install these units?

2) I know modifry carries wired DCI. My primary concern is space - which one would require least amount of space?

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks

The factory radio cover will fit flawlessly over all of those units. I don't have experience with the Axxess ASWC-1, however I installed the modifry DCI and it works perfectly and space was not an issue.

I am a total newbie, so please bear with me on this. I haven't done any dis-assembly, so I have no idea about the amount of space behind the head unit. Are you using a wired or wireless DCI? I am going on the following assumptions:

1) The the steering mounted controls are wired.
2) The wires from the steering mounted controls run to the radio.
3) The wires from the steering mounted controls will be spliced into the DCI

My preference is for the wired DCI, so what would be a good location for placing the DCI? Is there enough room behind the head unit? Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks
