ipod connected to headunit through usb
if the ipod is connected to the headunit through the usb port, what controls the music playback? is it the headunit or the ipod itself? or does the ipod go into sync mode leaving the headunit as the controller???
does anyone know the answer to these questions? to be more particular does anyone know what happens on the Alpine CDA-105 when connecting the ipod to the usb port...thank you

hey, ill answer your two threads here in one answer. i got a pioneer 3200ub and it works great. i can control my ipod (though i use pandora) though my phone, but i prefer the HU as i just need to skip forward as thats all you can do with pandora. i do not have the modifry dash control system though its the best. with the 3200ub you have the option of using the phone or the HU as it can be in audio mode or ipod mode. good luck. it also charges of course through usb.

Some HUs will let you control playback at the iPod and the HU at the same time. In my experience the current Alpine gear doesn't play well with Apple stuff if you want to control things at the iPod/iPhone.

First of all, which iPod do you have?
All ipods that have the "standard ipod port" works, iphones is a different story. Your alpine deck has a button for the search (magnifying glass). This will allow you to go to playlist, genre, songs, albums, etc. and access it as if your on the ipod (except with an ugly UI). With your dash controls (provided you installed a modifry/PAC controller), you will only be able to control: change modes of the HU (tuner/cd/ipod/etc.), control vol+/-, track +/-, and mute/interrupt. No searching folders and what not.

Now I've realized some usb ports / headunits give you the option of controlling the music playback through the ipod (IPOD MODE)
so now I guess I want a list of all the possible headunits that have this IPOD MODE...since it's so difficult for me to find that option on the reviews/videos/ of these headunits..
thanks a lot

the pioneer 3200ub seemed promising but now I need to know if there is an aux or usb port on the rear of the headunit as opposed to the front since i want my S2000 stereo cover closed at all times????

yeah i hate the alpine ipod controls, i would hate searching through my 28gb of music on my ipod with the magnifying glass. i'll definitely crash, driving stick, looking down at my tiny headunit display... smh =/
