Installed Lucid DCI, I have delays
I installed the Lucid DCI last night. It went pretty quickly.
I'm concerned though because I wasn't expecting to see delays when I used it. Maybe I'm picking to picky, the delays are not huge, but very noticable.
Is this normal? I was under the impression there were no delays with the Lucid DCI.
Thanks

i have it installed with an alpine HU as well and i also get delays. however, i tested the HU out with both the dash controls and the remote control. the dash controls has the same delays associated with the remote. since the dci sends the signal via IR (just like the remote) they should have exactly the same delays. very small delays, but they are there...
this is what i discovered. anyone else with this problem?

there is a tiny delay that i've noticed (measurable in milliseconds), but i recall there being a tiny delay w/ the OEM HU as well...
all in all though, i can't say i notice it on a daily basis... the PAC unit has/had a delay of seconds in some cases...

The MODE and CH button do not send the IR commands till you release the button. So if you press and hold them there will be a delay for as long as you hold the button. You will get better results if you press and release quickly.
I had to program it this way in order to get the button-combinations to work. If MODE & CH sent the commands when you first pressed the button, you would get unwanted IR commands when you did a button combination.
The Volume switch will act nearly instantly, sending the first IR command within 1/100 of a second. If you hold the Volume switch, it will repeat the command with a little delay between each one.
The same goes for button-combinations, nothing happens when you press-and-hold the MODE or CH button, when when you toggle Volume, you will get an immediate IR transmission. If you hold Volume, it will send repeating commands with small delays between them, just like it does with the 'regular' volume commands.
There is also the possibility your HU is missing some of the IR commands. Most of the IR protocols send 3 IR commands with each button press, just in case one "gets lost". The HU will react to the first one and ignore the others if they are received very close to the first one. If the IR emitter is not positioned properly, it might be possible that some of the IR commands are not strong enough to be received, and sometimes it's the second or third command that gets seen by the HU. If that's the case, that might be enough of a delay to be noticed.
I have an Alpine now too but never noticed a delay. Maybe I wasn't looking, I'll check it out.

makes sense modifry. i have my IR emitter is place somewhat differently. close enough to the HU so that the HU will read it, but tucked enough under the frame piece so that its unseen.
the 2nd or 3rd signal thing makes complete sense and that is an excellent logical reason why i am experiencing some delay.
