I currently have an Orion HCCA 225 amp. It is a cheater amp that is technically 50 amps but can push a ton more depending on what ohms you are running. My previous setup was with two Kicker Comp 12s and it was very loud. That obviously won

Phil, help him out.....here are the specs for the amp.......
According to a bunch or things ive read, its extremely UNDERrated.
25x2@4ohms
50x2@2ohms
100x2@1ohm
200x2@.5ohm
100x1@4ohms
200x1@2ohms
400x1@1ohm
Damn, 1/2 an ohm stable....crazy!

NFRs2000NYC thanks, I know this is a pretty good amp, just not sure if it will work without some big subs. I am trying not to break the bank but I really want some good sound. I have another amp to run the fronts. Not sure what HU or Fronts I am going to run but I thought I would start with the bass and go from there, again thanks.

you should be able to easily make this work w/ a variety of setups...
my initial reaction would be if you want some thump, but not crazy --
2 8" subs 4 ohm DVC w/ DVC's in parallel and subs in parallel. 1 ohm load, amp bridged to mono, 400 Wrms total w/ 200 Wrms to each sub.
that should produce some solid bass.... think close to a single 12" sub @ 200 Wrms. i'd definitely put a sub rated for more than 200 Wrms on it though... just in case your way underrated pushes you over the max continuous power handling of the subs.
btw -- do you have a birth sheet or anything for the amp?
also, you could do a single 8" sub at 2 ohms and mono bridge it for 200 Wrms to that sub alone... again, same thoughts/warning on the sub.
btw -- Dave, did i ever tell you my Adcom is 1/2 ohm stable in stereo? and 1 ohm mono? w/ very similar output numbers... 4 x 30 Wrms

yeah - i'd start w/ a 4 ohm DVC wired for 2. that'll give you 200 Wrms x 1, which will power most good 8" subs competently.
you can get other opinions, but i generally favor what i know and am experienced with...
for a good mix of sound styles - i think a JL 8W3v2 is probably a good choice. you'll be pushing the 8W3v2 pretty close to limits, so if you're REALLY underrated, this won't be the best choice. just be sure not to pay MSRP. they're good subs, but a bit overpriced. work w/ the dealer for a price at about 80% or less of MSRP to get a fair deal.
normally, i'd mention the Elemental Designs e8a which is what i have... but w/ their backorder issues... i just don't feel comfortable doing it. check it out if you'd like: www.edesignaudio.com
then there is Eclipse's 8" sub.
other than that, i'm really running dry on subs i like.
as you look for subs, know that William's enclosure is right at .38 cu ft. w/o displacement.
btw, i don't know if you missed it, but do you have a birth sheet or actual power sheet for that amp?

Now I have installed one stereo once in my old car but it was more like I was helping my friend who knew his stuff. I am pretty handy but I am handy when I have directions. Are there any directions for wiring out there? (Something basic like which wires go to what kind of thing) I don
