Default How to remove door panels?

Electronics install 101 question:

I've always worked with installers to put in stereo equipment, but I've decided to swap the door speakers myself. I've never done this, and want to be sure not to damage the clips or the panel itself.

For someone who's done this, are any special tools needed? What does a newbie need to know?

Thanks for any tips!

No, it is very easy. Read this guide on Lucid's Web site. It covers it all in detail.

Thanks!

Both sites listed above mention a "pry tool." How important is this?

don't need a pry tool.

take off the black pop rivet thing in the top corner of the door. behind the door pull is a screw, and then the black trim behind it you twist down and pull out and it comes out. in the door handle are 2 black squares you pry out with your fingernail and behind each is a screw, take them out. then put you rhand on the bottom middle of the door and you can kind of fit your fingers inbetween the door plastic and the metal. pull out and up hard and all the snaps will pop loose and then the door lifts up and out.

If I recall correctly, the black pop rivet in the front upper edge of the door panel actually has a slightly relieved area about 45 degress on the underside of its outer edge for prying. If you look carefully, you can put a prying device into that space. Otherwise you'll mangle it trying to get it out because it's a tight fit.

actually don't even worry bout the black rivet or prying it. Just pull it out like its a white plug like the rest. I would put a piece of tape on it before ya pull so it doesnt roll under the car or shoot across the garage.
