If you're going to put in rear speakers you might want to check out Mark's speaker pods. I just installed them and the look and sound great....well, you use your own speakers so sound depends on what speakers you buy. They mount in the open space in the roll bar and look very professional. I was considering the lucid way, but decided this was better for me. I haven't heard the lucid setup, but I would think more sound would get to the cabin when it comes straight from behind your head.

You would be quite surprised how much "more music" is in the cabin when you have the rear speakers, like the difference between surround sound and regular stereo. I can't comment on the pods, they look awesome but I haven't heard them. I can say that the rear speakers, done as Lucid offers his made a world of difference in my car.

Maybe instead of rear speakers you should consider some high end components. I recently purchased some MB Quart QSD216s and a 125x2 PPI amp. For now I have the stock head unit that sounds much too nasally for me but the sound quality from this setup is phenomenal. These items are very expensive, but you could easily scale it down to a $300 and $400 speakers. Just remember to add in costs for two adapters for the stock HU, 60 ft of wire, and a amplifier hookup kit. Those items will add a significant cost to the project.
