Default How much bass can my component speakers handle?

Ok so I have the Polks in the doors and the Alpines in the headrest powered by a PDX 100.4. When I installed the amp I didn't mess with any of the settings and didn't switch it to high pass. I am using an Alpine cda-9885 with +3 bass and otherwise stock settings. The bass/midbass from these speakers sounds really tight and punchy with no distortion. I am just wondering when I get a new sub, should I change the crossover setting on these speakers? I love the punchiness but I don't know if this will cause them to blow over time. Thanks

switching the highpass filter on will definitely decrease distortion from the components and increase their life. The components were not designed to reproduce deep bass frequencies.
