Default how do you find your OEM radio serial number?

I read the FAQ about holding #1 and #6 then turning the unit on..but it doesnt flash the numbers? Anyone know how to get the serial number..short of taking the head unit out?

I have a 03..i dont think that makes a difference tho..

thanks

be sure to hold down 1 & 6 for a while. i never was able to verify this technique.

the only other way i know to do it, outside of pulling the dash, is to call the dealer who originally sold the car and give them your VIN number. they can look up the security code for your radio via the VIN number.

ARE YOU GUYS TALKIN ABOUT THE SERIAL NUMBER OF THE RADIO OR THE RADIO "CODE"
im interested to know, as i got my S back from the bodyshop yesterday and they disconnected the battery so i need to get the radio code as you may already know. I bought my car used and dont have this code. I was told i need to go to the dealer and have them pull out the radio to get the serial number and then be able to punch that in and get the radio-code. I havent checked the FAQ thread yet. If this is in fact the code youre talking about, i will try that pushing buttons 1 & 6 technique later. Thanks in advance !
